Connect your site

Connecting links your WordPress site to your brokenlinkchecker.io account. By the end of this page you will have connected a site. You will also know what it gets on your plan.

Plan: connecting is free and unlimited on every plan. A paid plan adds Pro slots, and Pro Personal has 1, Pro Business 5 and Pro Agency 250.

Why connect#

There are no license keys, because the connection to your account is what switches features on.

• Every connected site, on any plan, gets the SEO tools in wp-admin. That covers Rank Tracker, SEO / AEO Audit, Internal Link Optimizer, AI Visibility Tracker and Uptime Monitor.
• A connected site with a Pro slot also gets the Pro features of the plugin. The list is further down this page.

The site also shows up on brokenlinkchecker.io, next to your other projects.

Connect the site#

1. In wp-admin, open Settings & billing in the Broken Links menu.
2. Click Connect this site in the connection bar at the top.
3. brokenlinkchecker.io opens. Log in or create an account with the code we email you.
4. On the page "Approve the connection", check the site address and click Approve connection.
5. You land back in wp-admin with the message "Site connected." or "Site connected. Pro is now active."

The Connect this site button also appears on the Dashboard banner and next to the version under the plugin logo. Each tool page has its own connect button too.

Approve the connection within 30 minutes of clicking the button, or start again from wp-admin.

Connecting also verifies the domain of a matching project on your account. Verify your domain explains why that matters.

Connect while you buy a plan#

The Upgrade to Pro page in the plugin shows the brokenlinkchecker.io plans. Buy a plan from there, and the site connects itself after payment.

If you already bought a plan on the website, click Connect this site instead. Checkout and add-ons covers the payment steps.

What a Pro slot unlocks#

Your plan gives you a number of Pro slots. Your connected sites fill them in the order you connected them. A site holding a slot gets these Pro features in the plugin:

• Scheduled scans, daily, weekly or monthly. Scheduled scans covers them.
• Email reports after each scheduled scan, plus mail to post authors.
• Comment scanning for links in approved comments.
• Fix with AI for single links and whole batches. Fix with AI in the plugin shows how.
• View archived version for broken external links.

On a site with Pro, the upgrade prompts disappear. The Upgrade to Pro menu item turns into Plans & upgrades.

A site without a Pro slot#

When every slot is taken, a new site still connects. It works like a site on the Free plan. It keeps the free plugin features and the SEO tools, and it shows the upgrade prompts.

The page "Approve the connection" warns you before you approve. It says that your plan's Pro sites are all in use.

To give the site a slot, disconnect another site or move to a bigger plan. Pro slots and covered domains explains the order.

The connection bar#

Once connected, the bar at the top of the settings reads "Connected to brokenlinkchecker.io" with your email. On a paid plan, it also shows how many of your sites are in use.

• Open dashboard opens your account on brokenlinkchecker.io.
• Refresh connection fetches your plan again right away.
• Disconnect site ends the connection.

The last two sit in the menu behind the three dots.

Refresh after a plan change#

The plugin checks your plan about every 12 hours. So a plan change on the website can take a while to reach wp-admin.

Click Refresh connection after you buy or change a plan. The message "Connection refreshed. Your plan and features are up to date." confirms it.

Disconnect the site#

1. Open the menu behind the three dots in the connection bar.
2. Click Disconnect site.

The message "Site disconnected." confirms it, and Pro features and the SEO tools turn off at once. Your scan results and settings stay in WordPress.

You can also disconnect a site from brokenlinkchecker.io. Open the project and click WordPress in the sidebar. Project settings shows the list of connected sites.
