02 · Definition

What is an SEO audit?

An SEO audit is a systematic check of everything that affects how a website ranks in search: technical setup, on-page content, structured data and site structure. The output is a prioritized list of problems, ordered by how much fixing each one is likely to matter.

03 · Capabilities

What is an AEO audit?

An AEO audit checks whether a website is structured for AI assistants to cite it. This one combines answer-block detection, question-heading analysis, FAQ schema validation, AI crawler access tests and llms.txt checks in one ordered fix list. AEO stands for answer engine optimization.

The AI Visibility Monitor then measures whether those AEO fixes earn actual AI mentions.

answer block within first 150 words
question-shaped H2/H3 headings
FAQPage schema present and matching
AI crawlers allowed (GPTBot, ClaudeBot…)
llms.txt present at site root

What do the technical checks cover?

The technical SEO checks cover status codes, redirect chains, canonical tags (the tag that points to the preferred URL of a page), XML sitemaps and indexability, whether search engines are allowed to list a page. Broken pages and redirect loops surface in the first minutes. For a deeper link crawl, the Broken Link Checker tests every link on up to 250 pages free.

What do the on-page checks cover?

Titles, meta descriptions, heading structure and images. Length limits are enforced exactly: titles over 60 characters, descriptions outside 150-160, missing H1s, skipped heading levels and images without alt text all get flagged.

Is your structured data valid?

Structured data is machine-readable facts about a page, written in a code format called JSON-LD. Every block gets validated: required fields, correct types, and whether the schema matches visible page content. Invalid schema is worse than none. It costs rich results and AI trust.

What do you fix first?

The fix list is ordered by impact, not by category. A blocked AI crawler outranks a long title tag. Each item names the pages affected, the exact problem and what to change, so the list works as a work order.

How is the health score calculated?

One SEO health score from 0 to 100, weighted by severity: high-impact issues cost more points than cosmetic ones. Re-audits track the score over time, so progress is a number, not a feeling.

08 · FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is an SEO audit?

An SEO audit is a systematic check of the factors that affect how a site ranks: technical setup, on-page content, structured data and internal structure. This one runs over 120 checks and returns a prioritized fix list with a 0-100 health score.

What is an AEO audit?

An AEO audit checks whether a site is structured for AI assistants to cite it. It combines answer-block detection, question-heading analysis, FAQ schema validation, AI crawler access tests and llms.txt checks in one ordered fix list. AEO stands for answer engine optimization.

What does the audit check?

Over 120 factors in four groups: technical (status codes, redirects, canonicals, sitemaps, indexability), on-page (titles, descriptions, headings, images), structured data (JSON-LD validity and match with visible content) and AEO (answer blocks, question headings, AI crawler access).

How is AEO different from SEO?

SEO optimizes for ranking in a list of search results. AEO optimizes for being quoted in an AI-written answer. The overlap is large, but AEO adds requirements SEO ignores: quotable answer blocks, question headings, and access for AI crawlers like GPTBot.

How long does an audit take?

A 25-page free audit finishes in under 2 minutes. Larger sites run at roughly 500 pages per minute, so a 10,000-page audit completes in about 20 minutes. Results stream in as pages finish, so the first issues appear within seconds.

How often should I audit my site?

Monthly for most sites, weekly for sites that ship changes often. Every deploy can introduce redirect chains, broken schema or noindex mistakes. Scheduled audits on paid plans compare each run against the last and flag regressions.

Do you check whether AI crawlers can read my site?

Yes. The audit tests robots.txt and server responses for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot and others. A site that blocks these crawlers cannot be cited by the AI assistants they feed, however good its content is.

Can I run an SEO audit for free?

Yes. The free audit covers 25 pages per run with no signup, and the instant check above audits one URL in seconds. Free accounts get 1 audit a month. It is a real free SEO audit, not a trial: score, fix list and AEO checks included.

What is an AI SEO audit?

An AI SEO audit checks the factors that decide whether AI assistants can read and cite your site. Here that means five checks: answer blocks (a short direct answer placed right under a heading), question-shaped headings, FAQ schema, AI crawler access and llms.txt. The results sit in the same fix list as the classic SEO checks.

What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a plain text file at your site root that tells AI models where your key content lives. It is a proposed standard, similar to robots.txt but for AI answers. The audit checks whether the file exists and lists your important pages.

What is GPTBot?

GPTBot is the web crawler OpenAI uses to gather content. If your robots.txt blocks GPTBot, ChatGPT cannot read your pages and will not cite them. The audit tests access for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended, so you know exactly which AI crawlers your site turns away.

How much does an SEO audit cost?

This SEO audit is free for 25 pages per run. Paid plans cover bigger sites from $4.08 a month billed yearly, and a single extra audit costs $4.99. Manual audits from an agency usually cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. An automated SEO checker covers the standard checks for a fraction of that.
