Run an audit

The SEO and AEO audit checks your pages for search and AI-answer problems and ranks the fixes. By the end of this page you will have run your first audit. You will also know how many audits your plan includes.

Plan: the audit works on every plan, Free too. Your plan sets the audits per month and the pages per audit.

Before you start#

A full-site audit reads the pages your last link scan found. It does not crawl the site on its own. Run a link scan on the project first, and let it finish. Create your first project shows how.

A one-page audit needs no scan. It checks the single address you type.

Run the audit#

1. Open a project from your Projects hub.
2. Click SEO / AEO audit in the sidebar.
3. Pick the scope in the menu next to the button. Full site · up to your page limit, or One page.
4. For One page, type the full address of the page, such as https://example.com/pricing.
5. Click Run audit.

A message confirms the start: "Audit started. Results appear here in a minute or two." The page says "Audit running" and reloads by itself until the results arrive. Small sites finish in a minute or two. Big sites take longer.

Results appear when the whole audit is done. The page shows nothing partial while it runs.

Which pages a full-site audit reads#

• Order: the audit takes the pages closest to the homepage first.
• Limit: it stops at the page limit of your plan. Pages past the limit are not audited.
• URL parameters: the Remove URL parameters switch sits under the button. With it on, addresses that differ only by their query string count as one page. The switch also applies to your link scans.
• Skipped files: sitemaps, feeds, images and documents are not pages, so the audit leaves them out. The page count can end up below your limit.

What a one-page audit covers#

The page must sit on the project's own domain. Any other domain gets the message "Audits run on the verified domain only." A www in front makes no difference.

A one-page audit still runs the site-wide checks, such as robots.txt, the sitemap and llms.txt. It also measures speed on that page instead of the homepage.

Audits per month#

• The count sits in a line under the button. It covers every project on your account.
• A new month starts on the first day of the calendar month.
• A one-page audit and a full-site audit each count as one audit.
• A failed audit does not count against your month.

When the month is used up, Run audit switches off. The message reads "Switch to a bigger plan for more." Open Account, then Billing, and use the Change plan cards. Change or cancel your plan walks through it.

Messages you may see#

• "Run a link scan first, or audit one page." You picked Full site on a project with no finished scan.
• "An audit is already running for this project." Each project runs one audit at a time. Wait for the results.
• "The last audit could not fetch any pages." Run a fresh link scan, then try again.

The audit runs only when you click the button. There is no audit schedule.
