1. What the service does

Broken Link Checker is a suite of seven SEO tools: link checking, keyword rank tracking, Bing rank tracking, AI visibility monitoring, internal link optimization, SEO and AEO audits, and uptime monitoring.

The service consists of the web app at brokenlinkchecker.io, user accounts, paid plans, the WordPress plugin and the Shopify app.

Plan limits, such as pages, keywords, prompts and monitors, are listed on the pricing page and apply as stated there.

Features can change. We may adjust free limits, add capabilities, or retire them. If a change removes core functionality from a plan you pay for, we tell you first, and you may qualify for a prorated refund under section 6.

2. Free usage and fair limits

You can run scans without an account, within the limits shown on the site. We enforce these limits per visitor, and we may adjust them at any time.

Do not circumvent the limits. Rotating IP addresses, scripting the scanner, or creating multiple accounts to multiply free quota is a violation of these terms. We may block traffic that abuses the free tier.

3. Rules for scanning and monitoring

Our crawler visits the site you submit on your instruction. You confirm that you own that site or have permission from the owner to check it.

You are responsible for the scans and monitors you start, and for the prompts you configure.

You must not use the service to:

• Scan a site with the purpose of degrading it, probing it for vulnerabilities, or harvesting its content
• Overload a target site through repeated or parallel scans
• Test links behind authentication you are not entitled to access
• Configure prompts or monitors for unlawful purposes
• Break any law, or any contract you have with the site owner

We may refuse to crawl any domain, and we honor removal requests from site owners who do not want their sites scanned.

4. Reports and sharing

Every scan produces a report with a unique link. Anyone who has the link can open the report without logging in. Treat the link as public.

Anonymous reports are deleted 30 days after the scan. Reports on paid plans follow your plan's history limit.

Reports appear in the public reports directory only when a PRO account holder publishes them. Published reports can be unpublished at any time and drop from the directory immediately.

Recent results for a domain may be served from cache. A report you receive can be based on a scan completed earlier the same day.

You may share and export your reports freely, including the CSV export. You may not scrape brokenlinkchecker.io, resell report access as your own service outside the white-label features of your plan, or misrepresent a report as issued by us after editing it.

We may use aggregate, non-identifying statistics from scans, such as overall error rates, in our public data and reports.

5. Accounts and paid plans

An account is required for scheduled monitoring, alerts, and other paid features. Keep your password secret.

Actions taken through your account are your responsibility. Tell us right away if you believe someone else has gained access.

You must be 18 or older, or otherwise able to enter a binding agreement where you live.

Paid plans renew automatically through Stripe, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. Cancel from your account settings whenever you want. Access continues to the end of the paid period.

Prices are in USD and exclude VAT and sales tax where applicable. Price changes take effect with at least 30 days' notice before your next renewal.

6. Refund policy

Refunds are given when the service has a defect we cannot fix. There is no general money-back window.

The free tier exists so you can test the tools on your own site before you pay. This section is the complete refund policy and forms part of these terms.

Defects and our right to cure. A defect on our side is our problem, not yours. If a paid feature does not work as described, report it through the site with enough detail for us to reproduce it: the domain, the scan or report in question, and what went wrong.

We then get a fair chance to fix the problem. Most confirmed defects are resolved quickly. If we cannot fix a confirmed defect within 14 days of a complete report, you get a full refund of the affected charge.

What does not qualify. A refund is not owed where the service worked as intended. Examples: you changed your mind, you no longer need monitoring, a target site blocked or throttled our crawler, or a link status changed after the scan.

Plan limits and features are published on the pricing page before you buy.

Renewals. Renewal charges follow the same rule. Cancel before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. The renewal date is visible in your account settings, and we email a receipt for every charge.

Removed features. If we remove core functionality from a plan you pay for, you may cancel and we refund the unused remainder of the current period on a prorated basis.

Duplicate and failed charges. Duplicate charges and failed payments that still captured money are always refunded. Send us the transaction reference and we settle it within 5 business days.

How to ask. Contact us through the site with your account email, the charge date, and a description of the defect. We confirm receipt within one business day.

Approved refunds go back to the original payment method via Stripe within 5 to 10 business days. Your bank may need a few extra days to show the money.

Chargebacks. Talk to us before you contact your bank. We resolve billing questions faster than a dispute process does. A chargeback filed without prior contact may lead to suspension of the account while the dispute runs.

7. Your data and our property

Scan reports, ranking histories and monitoring data about your sites belong to you. Use them however you like, including under your own brand through the white-label features included in your plan.

The scanner, the crawler, the site, the WordPress plugin distributed under the GPL where stated, the Shopify app, our brand and our documentation belong to Norse Digital Group LLC and Mementor AS.

Your plan gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service. It does not give you the right to copy the service, build a competing product on our infrastructure, or resell access to the service itself outside your plan's features without a written agreement.

8. Third parties

We depend on outside providers to run the service, including Stripe for payments, Google for optional sign-in, Twilio for SMS, and data providers for ranking and AI answer checks.

Their own terms govern their part of the service. We are not liable when a third party fails or changes its offering. How these providers handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

9. No warranty

The service is provided as is. Link checking depends on how target servers respond at the moment of the scan. A link reported as broken can work later, and a working link can break the next minute.

Ranking positions and AI-visibility data reflect what our systems observed at check time and may lag changes in third-party platforms. Uptime monitoring detects outages at the configured interval and cannot catch every event between checks.

We make no promise that reports are complete, that every error is detected, that the service is available without interruption, or that using the tools improves rankings.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data arising from your use of the service. This includes decisions you make based on a scan report.

Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us during the 12 months before the claim arose.

11. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, abuse the crawler, or fail to pay. Accounts closed for violations are not refunded. Sections 7, 9, 10, and 12 remain in force after termination.

12. Governing law

Wyoming law governs these terms. Disputes are handled by the state or federal courts in Wyoming, and you accept the jurisdiction of those courts.

13. Changes

We can revise these terms. The date at the top shows the current version.

We announce material changes by email to registered users or by notice on the site. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, the new terms apply to you.
