Log in and account security

Log in with a six-digit email code or your Google account. There is no password to steal or reset. Change your login email and log out safely.

Your account has no password. By the end of this page you will know both ways to log in. You will also know how to change your email and log out.

Log in with an email code

  1. Click Login / Register at the top of any page on brokenlinkchecker.io.
  2. On the Log in or sign up page, type your email address.
  3. Click CONTINUE WITH EMAIL →.
  4. Open the email with the subject "Your Broken Link Checker login code". It holds a six-digit code.
  5. Type the code into the Login code field and click VERIFY AND CONTINUE →.

Your dashboard opens, or the page you were on before you logged in. The code works for a short time. The email states how long. Each new code replaces the one before, so always use the newest one.

A new email address gets a new account on its first login. There is no separate sign-up form.

Log in with Google

  1. On the Log in or sign up page, click Continue with Google.
  2. Pick your Google account and approve the sign-in.

Google and the email code open the same account when the email address matches. You can switch between the two at any time.

Why there is no password

A login code works for a short time, and only the newest code counts. There is no password that could leak from another site. You also never need a password reset.

Keep your email inbox safe, because it is the key to your account. If you use Google, your Google account plays that role.

Change your login email

  1. Click Account in the sidebar of your dashboard.
  2. On the Profile tab, type the new address into Email.
  3. Click Save changes.
  4. Open the verification email at the new address and click the link inside.

Until you click that link, your dashboard and projects stay closed. The Account page stays open, so you can fix a typo there. Click RESEND VERIFICATION EMAIL → if the first email got lost.

Log out

  1. Click Account in the sidebar.
  2. On the Profile tab, find the Session panel.
  3. Click Log out.

This signs you out on the device you are using. Log out on each shared or public computer you used.

Log in from the WordPress plugin

The plugin can send you to brokenlinkchecker.io to connect your site. If you are not logged in, you see the same login steps first. Then you approve the connection and land back in WordPress.

The connection goes to whichever account is logged in. To connect a site to another account, log out first and log in with that account.
