The Internal Link Optimizer maps how your pages link to each other and suggests links worth adding. By the end of this page you will know what a run needs and what can stop it.
Plan: the optimizer works on every plan, Free too. Your plan sets the pages per run and the suggestions per month.
You need a finished link scan
The optimizer reads the pages your last link scan found. It does not discover pages on its own. Run a link scan on the project first, and let it finish. Create your first project shows how.
Without a scan, the tool page says "Run a link scan first." A fresh scan also gives the optimizer your newest pages. Run one after you publish new content.
How many pages a run reads
| Free | Pro Personal | Pro Business | Pro Agency | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pages per run | 50 | 1,000 | 2,500 | 2,500 |
Pro Agency scans up to 5,000 pages, but one optimizer run reads at most 2,500. A run reads its pages one after another, so it has a lower ceiling than a scan.
The run takes the homepage first, then the pages closest to it. Addresses with a query string are left out. Pages past your limit are not part of the run.
What stops a run from starting
- No finished scan: "Run a link scan first. The optimizer reads the pages the scan found."
- A run in progress: "An analysis is already running for this project." Each project runs one analysis at a time. Wait for it to finish.
- No suggestions left this month: "You have used all N link suggestions this month. Switch to a bigger plan for more." Run analysis switches off until the next month.
What the optimizer never does
The optimizer never edits your site. Approving a suggestion only marks it in the app. You add the link yourself, hand the fix prompt to an AI assistant, or apply it with the WordPress plugin. Accept, dismiss and export covers all three.
