Scan a site without an account

Run a free broken-link scan from the homepage. No signup, live progress, and a report you can share, with the page and anchor text for every broken link.

By the end of this page you will have scanned a site from the homepage and opened its report. You do not need an account.

Run the scan

  1. Open brokenlinkchecker.io and type the site address into the scan box. yoursite.com is enough. The https:// part is optional.
  2. Click SCAN →. The scan starts within a few seconds.
  3. Watch the progress. The scan first finds pages through the sitemap and by crawling. Then it checks every link on those pages. Broken links appear in the list while the scan runs.
  4. When the scan finishes, click View the full report →. The address of that page is the report link you can share.

What a free scan covers

  • Up to 250 pages per scan.
  • 2 scans a day.
  • The scan checks internal links and links to other websites.
  • Without an account, the scan skips images, scripts, stylesheets and documents. Log in to switch them on in the advanced options.

Plan: a Free account raises the limit to 500 pages per scan and 50 scans a month. Pro plans go up to 5,000 pages. See Plans at a glance.

If the scan finds only one page

The crawler found no other pages to visit. That happens when the site has no sitemap and the homepage links to no other page on the site. A robots.txt that blocks the rest of the site has the same effect. The Troubleshooting section walks through each cause.

Two other cases stop the scan with a message instead of a report. One is a firewall that challenges bots on the start page. The other is a robots.txt that blocks the start page itself.

Scan the same site again

A site scanned in the last few hours opens its existing report instead of running a new scan. Log in and use Run scan on the project to force a fresh crawl.
